The University of Texas classification system
The University of Texas (UT) classification system utilizes a 4×4 matrix that assesses ulcer depth horizontally and infection and ischemia status vertically. This system categorizes patients into four distinct groups based on their infection and ischemia status, while also considering the depth of the ulcer. Unlike the Meggitt-Wagner system, which primarily focuses on classifying the ulcer’s condition, the UT system is considered more beneficial in predicting the likelihood of amputation.
