Questionnaires for patients with benign prostate hyperplasia
The International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) is determined by using a standardized questionnaire, commonly employed for screening and monitoring patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. It is the most frequently used symptom score in studies related to Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE). The IPSS questionnaire comprises seven questions related to symptoms and one question regarding the patient’s quality of life.
The quality-of-life question in the IPSS asks patients to rate how they would feel if they had to live with their current symptoms on a scale of 0 (delighted) to 6 (terrible). Additionally, another questionnaire, the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5), is commonly used to evaluate the impact of treatment on erectile function.
